Corporal Punishment.

" Take heed to yourselves:
 If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him;
and if he repent, forgive him.
 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day,
 and seven times in a day turn again to thee,
saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him."

Corporal punishment is the means whereby natural man enforces discipline. It is physical punishment for non conformity. Simply stated it is torture. Natural man believes that corporal punishment is a means whereby a person can be coerced to conform.

This means natural man believes that an individual's behavior should be controlled, and the means of control, is the the fear of being tortured. The other side of the coin is to reward a person who conforms to the norms of a corrupt society.

Natural man's whole life is centered around fear.  To be afraid of being punished, and to instill the fear of punishment in others. To control, and to be controlled. The 'leaders' are those who administer punishment, and the 'followers' are at the receiving end. The 'leaders' make the rules, and the 'followers' break the rules.

Corporal punishment is introduced early in the life of a child, and is usually reinforced by the school system. Here is a typical example of what I mean. What follows is an extract from the 'Code of conduct' of an American high school in 1984:

'I accept the Bible as the handbook of my life. ....the purpose of punishment is that of guilt removal. ...punishment is meted out where a pupil has admitted guilt... ...if a pupil who has admitted guilt... ..refuses to accept punishment, the following applies.. ..the pupil is ordered to hand in all books and is sent home... ....the pupil will not be re-admitted to the school until punishment has been meted out'.

This comes from a so-called 'Christian' school. This is the most coercive system imaginable, the above principles are are completely in contrast to the message according to the gospel. To punish an individual for making a confession, is an complete abomination. Confession and repentance are the only means whereby change can come about.
